I have this new old stock of AM27C040-200DC　EPROMS I can not program
Programmer: VP-480 ver.4.2.0
Inscriptions on chip:
AMD MALAYSIA
AM27C040 – 200DC
9507MPM
© 1990 AMD
Simptoms:
Auto-ID does not work : “No Device On Socket”
Blank Check: “No device on Socket” if I said ignore: than it checks blank and than it says “OK”
Program: “No Device On Socket” and if I say ignore than start program and fail:

Check the chip first.Is the chip ok? A poor contact may be cause it.You can check the pin16 and pin32 carefully. Also you can check if you select the chip type right.

Hello,

I have about 100pcs of these chips. They are NEW in original AMD packaging. I double check the selected chip. I programmed hundreds of 27C040 before with the same programmer, but this lot does not work. I might send one to you to check ?

You mean that you program 27c040 with vp-480 OK before, but this lot it doesn"t work? From the lot number, these chips may be producted in 1995.It probably have already old or used.You can check if the lot number of these chips are all the same.Also you can test the resistance between VCC and VSS.
