A290021T and VP-590 - no erase Reply

I"m using VP-590 with sortware version 4.3.2 for Windows 7 32bit. I can read the chips OK, but cannot erase. The erase process takes 250 seconds or so, but the blank verify always fails. Reading the chip then shows the same original data. What"s wrong?

You can connect the AC adapter first. And try to increase the parameter tPW and Retry.

Still no good. I am using a power adapter.

The default tpW is 7us, and I have tried 14us and 21us (and 1us).

Help.

I have now tried with a fresh install on a new PC. Exactly the same results.

This is really annoying as I can"t rollout an upgrade nationwide.

Bump.

After looking around the web, I have tried erasing the A290021T"s
by calling them 29F020, etc. Exact same result - no erase.

Desperate for an answer!

I have updated the firmware in the programmer to V14.0

(Very hard to follow the English instructions how to do this.)

Still the same problem.

**The software at DOWNLOAD 1 fails to install.

I get (OUT OF MEMORY) error around 97%.

DOWNLOAD 2 works fine, but is dated 9 Jan instead of 11 Jan.

This VP-590 is the only programmer I have.

I have tried 4 different chips, but I will try another couple now.

Chips are taken from working equipment, so I think they should be OK.

I just tried another three chips pulled from working machines.

Same issue... I cannot erase them.

I put BACK the first chips I was trying to erase, and they still work in the machines.

We test it OK.Please use our latest software, and if it still failed, you can change the VCC to 4.95V,4.90V,4.85,......until 4.5V. If it still failed, you can do the system test with the socket have no chip and adapter.

Still no good. Using 4.3.4 downloaded today, firmware version 14.0, VP-590. Windows 7 Starter, Samsung N210 ATOM-based Netbook PC.

Erase proceeds slowly, taking about 250 seconds to erase the chip.

I have tried increasing tpW (from 7 to 14, 21, 28) and decreasing VCC down to 4.5V in steps. Still the chip contains its original data.

I have performed the self tests. Voltages check out OK, (25.0 V reads as 23.9V, but this chip should not need the high programming voltage)

Good news... the chip erases!

Bad news... the program times out after 50 to 80 seconds and reports "Needs AC Adapter" and gived a "communications error".

(But at least the chip erases!)
