I have a problem when I want to reprogram an ATMega8 MCU,in VP390 programmer.
I suppose the problem is in inactive RESET pin. I suppose the algorithm doesn"t allow this situation.
Have you ever the same problem ?

I notice something more - I use the ATMega8A MCUs. After couple reprogramming (program/erase) cykles MCU stop responding, to programmer, always blanck is fault, even signature is fault (FF). The problem occur regulary, after 4-10 program cykcles of a single chip.
I have never changed the default program option (time, voltage etc.). It for me look like a wrong algorithm of programming for that MCU ATMega8A.

I checked it for many ATMEGA8 and ATMEGA8A. Still is wrong. Programing in normal mode (when RESET pin has a RESET function) is OK but when I deactivate RESET and active a ordinary port at the RESET pin still is wrong.
After couple reprogramming cycles (about 4) in mode with no RESET pin, all ATMEGAs have been burnt.
